Mascher Space Cooperative’s Community Engagement program strives to long-lasting and reciprocal relationships with our surrounding community by developing art-driven engagement strategies and shared resource programs for the schools and organizations that reside in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood. Mascher is proactive in the goals of racial equity and inclusion, as well as being conscientious neighbors within the quickly gentrifying area. Our current Community Engagement Coordinator is Christina Gesualdi.

Some of our core partners include:
– The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble
– Moffet Elementary School
– South Kensington Community Partners (SKCP)
With help from the Bartol Foundation Mascher can continue our outreach program, pairing up with Kat Richter and The Lady Hoofers and Moffet Elementary School to offer a long-term tap immersion for 60 fifth grade students from the neighboring school.
More about Kat Richter:
A regular performer at the London Tap Jam, Kat wrote her MA dissertation on the performance of tap’s “national anthem,” the Shim Sham Shimmy, and she continues to teach and present research throughout the US and the UK.
